Hey all!

I'm still pretty fresh to the Jeep thing, I've only had my KJ for about a month. Loving it so far but it is now time to register the car.

NH requires a front plate to be mounted. My KJ is a Limited so my bumpers are painted and it didn't come with pre-drilled holes for the front plate. Is there any way for me to mount the front plate without drilling? I'd like to hear some solutions, because I can't really think of anything. Also, if I were to go the route of drilling my bumper to attach a plate frame, where's the best place for me to pick up one of these frames and how much should I expect to pay for one (trying to avoid dealer pricing)?

This is a great site and a great group of people. I've found much useful information here and I look forward to interracting with you all in the future. Thank you for any help.

Don't really know of any other way. Only idea I could think of would be to get a front hitch and then a license plate adapter for it. But then you would need to remove the bumper if install the hitch.

The dealer should have given you one. If it is new they come with the Jeep. I test drove one in New Mexico, where they don't require a front plate but it had the mounting bracket inside the package sitting in the back seat. If it is new I would just go back to the dealer and complain.

What year is your KJ? Depending on the year, will determine the style of the front bumper. Napa makes "universal" front plate holders that are like $10 or so, but you will have to provide the screws to mount in (attaches underneath the front bumper).....but like I said, depending on the year, will depend on whether or not it will work as well or not.

My KJ is a 2003, I bought it used. The car came from PA, and I don't believe they are required to have a front plate down there. Thanks for the replies so far, I'll check if I can find the universal mount at NAPA.

The universal mount I got from Autozone worked, but it didn't look anything like factory install. Spend the 25-30 bucks and get a dealer one. I'm sure if you buy it and ask real politely they willl mount it. It ais held on by three screws, two seconds and a lot tech can have it on.

Look closer

There should be a couple of small 'dimples' where you need to drill. They are pretty hard to see.

I found a 05-06 Liberty bracket on ebay. Its a factory item. Will this fit my 03 or has the bumper's shape changed with the face-lift?

The front bumper underwent a radical change with the 2005 model year. There's a good chance they are not compatible.

Velcro

Industrial velcro would be my first choice.

After that you are going to need to drill.
