Has anyone had a wheel bearing go out on their Liberty? If so, what did it sound like?

I starting hearing a noise... sounded like I was riding on snow tires. I took it to a reputable shop that does pretty good work for me. They seem to think it's the right front wheel bearing going bad.

I made an appointment with the dealer to find and fix whatever it is. I'm glad the noise started now and not two weeks from now. I have 35,250 miles on the speedo... the warranty runs out at 36,000 miles. That's cutting things a little close!!!

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
They usually make a high pitched squealling noise but not always.Easy way to find out is to raise the wheel off the ground and grap the top and bottom of the tire and try to rock back and forth,it there is movement your wheel bearing is bad,but again not always.

Just have it replaced anyway and if that is not the problem at least you started before your warrenty ran out and they must continue to fix it until it is fixed no matter how many miles you have.

I had a 1998 Ford Escort that had 82 miles left on the warranty before the transmission shattered on the floor of the shop. It was just a minor ticking sound at first. Then after about 75 miles it became a loud click. Drove it right to the shop and then bam!

oh
they can go bad and sound like a clunking, specially when turning the opposite direction of the wheel that is bad. otherwise a dead giveaway for a bearing is a high pitch like a jet engine

speaking of warranties, my first rover had 49970 on the clock, transmission blew, warranty was up at 50k :D
