...I have to get a rental for a trip tomorrow, and Enterprise is across the street from the dealer, so I look at this as an opportunity to leave my KJ there to get my ABS issue looked at and not have to have any downtime or take time off work. I am also going to have them check out the windows as they were jamming when rolling up. Worst case scenerio, I'll have clean windor tracks ;)

Are there any software/firmware upgrades to the PCM that I should be aware of? I know sometimes upgrades are released and they'll reflash the PCM if you ask nicely.

Ive not heard about anything but its possible there is.

I know some people said they got the ****** flashed but idk if that would be needed on a 2007.

Eh, I suppose I'll just asked. Service rep that I spoke with earlier on the phone seemed pretty cool.

Nope, I took it over to Monicatti as it's right by my house. See, I have to go to Midland tomorrow for work, and they make us rent cars (cheaper than paying me mileage). I figured perfect timing, dropped the KJ off at Monicatti, Enterprise picked me up (got a 4 cylinder Avenger), and now I am scarfing down Jimmy John's and then off to class. It's been a fun day. I have a midterm in an hour and 15 mins that I didn't even begin studying for!

A 4 Cylinder Avenger.

You got a 4 Cylinder Avenger.
Do this: Go downtown. Park it next to the river. Get out, but keep your foot on the brake with the driver's door open. Use long object to put vehicle in drive, take your foot off the brake and take your leg out of the vehicle.

Let it sink.

Or better yet, you can disassemble it and find out how I can get through the firewall without drilling a hole.... lol3.gif

It's not TOO bad, but definitely underpowered.

Seems to handle decently (for what it is) when pushed, but up until it's pushed it feels mushy.

two positives - I like the gauge faces, and I like the radio (RBS I think?). Really cranks for what I assume is a base radio.

I don't know what the hell Chrysler's problem is with their cheap hard plastic interiors. Way to step back....way back. That was a point of criticism for GM back in the freakin' 80's! The steering wheel feels like a toy. Step it up asshats, this cheap crap has to go! Well, the other option is drop the price about $5k. Sad when a friggin' base Kia has a more plush interior than an Avenger.

I'll try and take a peek tomorrow when I get back from Midland to see if there's a way through the firewall :D

OK, I revise my statement. The plastic may be top quality. Frickin' cover it in something soft then! Looks and feels cheap IMO. In a Jeep/Truck? Sure, I am all about it. Hell, I'll even agree in a crossover. Function over form, I get it. In a passenger car? Step it up!

No luck Marlon, didn't really have time to crawl under the dash, plus I was in dress pants.

So, the KJ....they replaced both window regulators and tracks, also replaced the right front abs sensor. I pull out of the lot (onto Van ****, for you locals), and the road is rough (as you locals know). I feel the pedal doing the same thing - abs kicking in too early.

I did a couple of loops around the MI turn-arounds and had to make a moderate braking maneuver....boom, ESP, Trac Control, and ABS all light up. Speed around to the dealer again, of course AS I PULL IN the lights go off.

Anyway, the tech checks it with the scan tool and notes now the right rear is bad. He said the front was a bad wire or something - when he wiggled it on the hoist is when it'd lose the signal. I told him typically it's when the vehicle makes a change - stopping, bumps, etc - that sets it off. Doesn't seem to lose a signal when cruising comfortably.

Of course they don't have it in stock. So, I am bringing it back Monday afternoon.

Read edited post. :D

(The plastic isn't cheap, it just has a horrible texture.)

Marlon.....no...it's "rich corinthian leather" in discuise.:D

Atrus......jeeeezzz....you're having a time with the ABS/TC/ESP .. Seems like from your description, all 3 of those are being set off on the bumps. I hope they get it ironed out. At least it is under warranty.

Yup, all three are due to a bad wheel speed sensor. Being that the tech said it seemed like a bad wire, maybe there was a bad lot, and of course, all 4 of mine came from that lot.

Hmm...

I never had any issues with the ESP/BAS/ABS/EBD. Go figure right? :p

I actually kinda liked it especially offroad.

Ahhhh yes the Chrysler Cordoba. My mom had one of those, it was a hand-me-down from my uncle. of course by the time she got it, there was a hole in the floor due to rust and I hear the exhaust leaked so bad she got pulled over on the regular by Detroit Police.

She got rid of it just a few months before I was born. Bought a Dodge Omni, needed something less guzzly due to "High Gas Prices". LOL!!!

Good going Marlon. I didn't think anyone would get that "rich corinthian leather" comment but you did.

Dodge Omni.....OMG....gas was what......69 cents a gallon back then....

I like the ABS/ESP in the KJ, it's decent IMO. Seems to do OK offroad.

Dave, I actually got the leather comment as well - my buddy works at Chrysler, and his dad is an old-time Chrysler worker. When we were in college, his dad got him a vintage tee with a Cordoba on it and "Now with rich corinthian leather" across the front. It was awesome.

So, the issue? The connector on the rear right harness was bad! The tech went to pull it off the sensor, and the corroded terminal basically fell off in his hand. Nice one - 18k miles and exactly 1 year that I purchased it new.

Atrus....I thought those harness connectors were supposed to "seal". If it was a bad one, good thing it acted up now and was fixed under warranty.

exactly - I want to crawl under there and see what it looks like. Maybe throw some dielectric grease there to help seal.

I just hope this isn't something I have to worry about for the life of the vehicle. There are a lot of wires and connectors on these things!
