So it finally happened. I dont know if any of you all remember my jeep being wrecked about 4 months ago, and the local collision center repaired it. Well it happened again Saturday i was driving down 95 coming up on my exit to go home when my back right tire blew out completely come to find out something got jammed into the sidewall, and of course me being lil speed racer was going about 85 mph in the slow lane(my exit was about 1.1 miles away) as i come across the bridge i hear a loud thud and i feel my whole back of my car drop and then it just starts shaking so i slammed on the brakes where i slid off the right side of the road and slammed into a guard rail going about 30mph deployed both airbags(dont kno why passeneger deployed no passanger with me) my whole dash came un done the front of my car was smashed in the car started smoking so i cut it off but couldnt get the key out. or get the horn to stop honking it was the most annoying sound for about 10 minutes just a constant horn sound th whole undercarriage dropped to the ground. it was so depressing watching them try to tow it and just seeing all of my car hanging underneath..i guess u never really appreciate something till its gone..anyways..about 10 people stopped that was embarassing...then i undid the seatbelt and got out of the car and started to get my bearings of what just happened and i walked to the front of the car and it was destroyed my whole car in the front. i called my dad and 911 and when my dad got there he thought i was exagerating because there is absolutly no damage to the rear other than where the tire blew out but when you walk to the front its demolished..so long story short they put me in a rental on monday and towed the jeep to a junk yard, where i hadnt heard nothing till today. the adjuster said 11,000 in damage i owed currently 22,900(but i have gap thank god) and the value of the jeep is at 7900..so its officially totaled.im going today to get my stuff outta it and to take pictures ill post them soon as i can get them up. but i got my new car last night so i wont be going far i got a 2004 jeep liberty renegade with 21000 from a marine that lives near by..5 spd fully loaded for 6200.00 not bad

by the way i walked out without a scratch well i had a busted nose from the airbag

Glad your okay,but..............................

Did you wreck 6 cars in 4 years? If so time to hang up the keys and walk to work, your more of a danger then anything on the road.

hey guys! sorry havnt posted in a couple days. working non stop! Thanks again for all your concerns, but im fine and the liberty was the best vehicle i have driven..and no i did not wreck 6 cars in 4 years like alot of them said i got put into a couple vehicles that had transmission problems and engine problems from the start, found out later 4 out of the 6 were previous rentals, and were not maintained so i would turn them back in and get into another problem..but no im actually a good driver. never gotten a ticket..only 2 accidents 1 wasnt my fault and this one was me trying to save my life. I do speed on 95 alot but im always on the road late and there is never any traffic and my liberty handles 95 like no other..smoothest steering i have ever driven!

but thanks again, when i get off at 7 ill post some pictures!

I see a pattern here. Can anyone spot the drivers mistake?

Is this thread about the death of a Jeep or pointing out a driver's mistakes? (Which *all* of us make, no matter how much we've driven, how long we've been driving or what we're driving...)

Just wondering....

No pics yet? :)

ok ok ok!! lol..i was letting everyone know what happened with my jeep, didnt know i was gonna get A.Lectured on my wrong doings,:) and B.claimed to be a bad driver..but its fine, i know im a good driver, my records clean and my insurance is low, so if i drive with a heavy foot so be it, and i slammed on the brakes to prevent me from going to the right at to fast of a speed and flying in the woods. i honestly dont think anyone "pumps their breaks before they crash" its like a known thing almost everyones first reaction is to stop the car as fast as possible.so maybe if i would have said i pumped my brakes and driving down 95 i wouldnt have gotten the responses i did..so my fault!:D

but thanks to the ones who commented on the condition of the jeep/and me

I'm glad you're alright. That's one of my fears - blowing a tire on the freeway. Never happened to me and hope it never does. I've heard almost everyone admit that you are literally along for the ride when you blow a tire going that fast. especially a rear tire. I don't think it was the driver's fault at all as far as driving goes. Maybe tire neglect is to blame which is usually the case. You shouldn't be having tires blow at 85 miles an hour unless they are being abused or something.

I think in this case slamming on the brakes saved your butt since you hit a guard rail at what you estimate 30mph. you shed 55 mph off your speed. You didn't hit anyone else either. For that I say "nice job"!!!! You're alive.

you didn't take pictures did you?

I was at the wheel of the husband's van once when the right front tire blew. I was on I-355 near Chicago at the time. Scary stuff, but if you keep a level head and all it's not so bad. I remember letting off the gas, and not hitting the breaks too hard. I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic - I was on the inside lane. The other drivers around were good about letting me over too.

Glad all is well for you though.

It does all depend on the tires on your Jeep. For example, I am pretty sure the BFGs on my Jeep are only rated to about 85 mph. It's not an SRT so it doesnt need Z rated tires. To the OP, I am glad you weren't hurt and that the Jeep protected you. However, others can learn from your mistakes, so I can understand why myself and others are pointing out what could have been done differently to prevent this from happening in the future. In the meantime, good luck with the search for a new Jeep. With truck and SUV resale values so low right now, you should come out even or possibly ahead as long as insurance takes care of you.

You're right it does depend on the tires:
I have s rated tire's so I should be able to sustain 112 MPH -- given proper inflation and so on. And please read the disclaimer on the bottom of the chart.
