1st question, i want to get mesh inserts for the grille. Where can find I find them for a good price? I found them on ebay and that's about it. I want to look at other vendors to compare prices.

2nd question:
I want to put a set of off road lights on the front. Like Hellas or something. To mount them to the bumper, do I have remove the bumper or can it stay on?

Thanks!:D

For #2 I didn't have to take off the bumper but the lights "bounce a bit". I drilled through the plastic above the tow hooks and used big washers. I'm still working on it, I am thinking of getting a flat piece of steel or aluminum and using it as a brace between the two. I'm not going to worry about it too much because I will eventually get an winch bumper.

This is my thread on it, just might help.
You'll also see how I changed the look of my grill.

when you said they "bounce a bit" is there any risk of them breaking the bumper or cracking at all? Even in cold weather? I'm thinking of putting mine a little closer to center of the dumper too, if possible.

How did you get your wiring to the Hellas? Did you go through the dumper or back and through the grille?

Thanks

I like the Grille. I was thinking of doing the same thing.

The bouncing is merely an annoyance. I ran the wiring through the opening for the stock fog lights, behind the grill and stuffed the excess under the bumper shell. I left the relay under the hood and ran the wires through the factory firewall hole.

grille inserts are a great idea, just look at my pictures on the liberty pictures portion of the forum on page 3 i think its on, you will see my pictures, i got it from a guy on ebay who had a really good rating, when i get home ill log into ebay and tell you his username, he makes a kit for the 05-07 and it was like 80.00 shipped very nice had it in for about 7 months and still shines. plus i have spoken to him personally and if you pay the extra 15.00 he will gurantee any fading or loosing of luster for as long as you own the vehicle or he will ship you another pair free...let me know if this helps:D

I have the 500FF's but the 500's do have the red Liberty on the box. If you can get the FF's I hear they are a bit better for only $5 to 10. The only difference is the lens and reflector. I get lots of co-workers (I go to work before sunrise) telling me how bright my lights are. the_finger.gif

WalMart has them. I found mine hidden behind a pile of 500's.

No way, r you serious? Walmart? Thats the last place i would think of looking for Hellas. I've only seen them at A&A Auto (local auto store) and Advance Auto. and I always walk through the car area at walmart and I never recall seeing them. I'm deffiently going to have to look harder the next time I go.

Now when you said "The bouncing is merely an annoyance" do you hear them rocking back and forth as your driving or what? I have alot of bad roads around where i live so thats why i'm asking alot about the bouncing.

WalMart has the 500FF's for less than $75 including WA Sales Tax (8.3%). Regular 500's are $5 less. I used a 1x1 piece of wood behind the license plate and I get about 7 degrees of movement. I can't hear them flexing the bumper plastic though. Later today I am going to try to put a piece of aluminum under the bumper shell between the lights. I'll let you know how that works.

I think I fixed this bouncing crap. I used 2 pieces of my burglar alarm sign posts. I cut them about 6 inches long and wedged them the bumper shell and bumper insert. With the end of the bolt resting in the groove. You'll know what I'm talking about if you look under your bumper. I can't wait to get a real bumper.

Hey Thanks for the Tips. I'm gonna be detailing the jeep tomorrow so i'll take a look at the bumper. I'm was thinking of getting and putting the hellas on tomorrow but I gotta take the kj back to dealership because I had it ther today for a inspection and i also had them look at the front driver fog light becuase i've seen water/condensation in it. Well because there was no water in it when i gave it to them they couldnt do nothing. Well sure enough I took the jeep to the car wash after i got it back and now i'm seeing water/condensation in both fog lights. So now i gotta take it back so I can show them the lights and then they can order my new ones. THere lucky there only 3 or so miles away.

By the way... Do the hellas get in the way at all of taking the grille off or no?

Thanks

The lights don't interfere with the grill how I mounted them. I drilled about 1/8 inch before the crease right on the forward edge of the bumper. About the center of the 2nd and 6th slot. I'll post some bettter pics of them tomorrow.

I might suggest that you take a picture of the fog lights the next time they have condensation in them.

Those pictures will be great THanks. I was at walmart today. well I was at two walmarts today and they both had a bunch of Hella 500ff for $65 and I got the condensation in my fog lights from detailing the KJ today. and I took it to the dealership and showed them the fog lights. So I got new fog lights coming next week.

So after that I can get the hellas.

Did accidentally drill extra holes in your bumper?

Umm, I think you need to take the socks and tie them over your eyes, you are seeing things.

Seriously the 2006 is impossible to get mounted through the metal without pressing the lights up against the grill.. I found that out the hard way. I am still waiting to save 1100 for that ARB bumper. Unless the rock lizard one will be considerably cheaper.
