My wife's 04 has had an issue with the brake lights, they won't work. I've replaced the bulbs, checked the switch, and the fuses. They kinda work when they want to. Is this a problem with the bcm? We're tyring our best to keep from having to take it to the dealer, but I've exhausted my limited knowlege on it. I'm no electrical troubleshooter, but I am pretty handy with 12 volts(I've been the 12volts/mobile electronics industry for about 10 years) Anybody got any ideas?

If they are 'kinda' working Im guessing its got a bad ground or the socket for the bulb needs to be cleaned.

How do you know the brake switch is working?

I had one of the female plugs for mine get packed with dirt/mud etc and it burned causing a problem that sounds similar to yours. It cost me a new rear body wiring harness. I would do what Jeepster suggested and pull the plugs and check all connections.
