With all the options in headlights these days, what do you use and swear by? Stock halogen? Xenon? HLED?

For the KJ, many years later, my basic PIAA extreme white halogens certainly have stood the test of time over many bumpy roads.
PIAA now have a new H13 out for KK that is interesting, called Xtreme white hybrid, pure white xenon output.
I'm testing a similar one now in my sedan, ZXE sylvania's that are very good clear white outputs, that have great range.

I hadn't seen the PIAA bulbs, so I'll give them a shot. And maybe this summer I'll look into the relay wiring upgrade.

Cheers!

Even if you're currently just running stock halogen bulbs, do the relay wiring kit upgrade first/anyways. It improves ALL bulbs that you may put in there. It's how the vehicle wiring should have been from the design board on all halogen headlight equipped vehicles, yet none that I know of are.

Also remember that if your headlight lenses are in any way degraded, foggy, yellowed, that even "pure white xenon" or whatever will not be so when it passes through those plastic panes.
