Heater core problem?

Hi, I have 2012 Liberty sport 4x4 . A few days ago I starting smelling something like maple syrup when I turn the heat on. I still have heat. Is it possibly the heater core? I have been watching and haven’t noticed any fluid loss. What do you think? Thanks

You may have a small core leak which has dripped into the ducting. It may be just sitting in there, not enough to flow out.
