Hello all. My wife and I just bought an 04 Liberty Limited with 94K miles on it. My wife has always wanted a Liberty and this is her/our first one. Overall it seems in pretty good shape. I have seen the carfax report and it was regularly serviced at the same Chrysler/Jeep dealer for the vast majority of its life.
I have plans to take it to our local Chrysler/Jeep dealer and have the diffs and transfer case fluids changed. I will also have the cooling system power flushed. I saw on the carfax report that the transmission was serviced at about 60K miles. I think it is time for a fluid/filter change there as well. The oil was just changed in the engine so I think it is OK for now. The car has new pads and rotors so that is not an issue either. All the power windows are working. The AC blows very cold. the body and interior are in nice condition and the exhaust system is new fromt he muffler on back. Once all the fluids mentioned above are changed, I should have a pretty good baseline on service from that point. I looked closely at the water pump and could not see any wobbling or leak/weep issues with it. I will watch that closely. The coolant hoses all look very good. Any other suggestions you all can give me about preventive maintenence will be very much appreciated. The only cosmetic issue on our Liberty is the alloy wheels. They have quite a bit of corrosion on them and I would appreciate any advice on how to clean them up or have them refinished if that is not too expensive to do.
Although this is our first Liberty, I have also owned in the fairly distant past, a cherokee wagon (early 80's) and one of the little pickup trucks also from the very early 80's. Both of those jeeps gave me good service and would go anywhere I wanted to take them.
