Ok, so I think I'll head down across the border and buy a set of
Goodyear MT/R before the end of the month.
(If I go after May 31st. I either need a Passport or one of those
new fangled "Enhanced" drivers licenses that let us cross the
border without a Passport. Another $115.00 per person out the door!)

So, ready for it?
How much is a 245-75-16 tire going to rub on an un-lifted vehicle?
(That's only if my lift doesn't come within the next 20 days!)
You know how it is, the day I go to buy tires is probably the day
the lift kit shows up at the door!
And if I wait, it won't come until mid June with my luck!

So, will they just be to big and scrub the crap out of everything
under the KJ?
Or can I get away with it for a couple of hundred miles of driving?

On your UNLIFTED KJ the rub would be too much. Those are essentially 31" tires you are talking about. If you drive in a completely straight line, never turning your steering wheel for 200 miles, maybe, but in everyday driving it would drive you crazy. :)

Those are some big meats for a stock KJ. Are you trying to remove your wheel wells or what??

If someone put an ARB front bumper and a RockLizard rear bumper... What is the maximum tire size allowed with no rubbing?

Let's say, with a OME/Rancho lift with an extra rear ISO, Rusty's front strut plates and stock 16'' rims.

Will 265/70R16's fit easily? or you must have rims with a more appropriate BS (such the Cragar's Soft 8)?

I'm a bit different being 2WD but I've run MOABs and MT/R 245/75/16 now for few weeks. Did pound the pinch welds down and cut the crap out of the plastic splash fender liners and have just a bit of rub still. Passenger side seemed to be worse on mine. The outside of the tire got a nice small extra groove. I sold my old wheels/tires out from under the Liberty so it was either try it and attempt to not destroy the tires or drive my pickup. The pickup isn't junk but it's not the Liberty either. I think my other blessing was the way I bought my tires. One brand new one came with the Moabs, bought the others off Craigslist. One other brand new (two new ones on the back), two with about 85% tread ( on the front ), last one was suppose to be new ( wasn't and had uneven wear) it's the spare ( and I made the guy give me 75% of my money back).

Can I suggest that you look for a set of slightly used 235/70R16 tires until you can afford the lift?

I have a 2.5" spacer lift, also called an OTT lift and BFG 245/75R16 AT KO tires and occasionally they rub a bit on the inner fender wheel well. I doubt they would fit easily under a stock Jeep.
