Hey all, just purchased my first jeep which drove me to find this forum! 2002 liberty sport 3.7 with 162xxx miles on it. Little bit of rust but nothing out of the ordinary in Michigan lol. Got a couple things to do that I always do to used vehicles before I put them on the road, brake pads, rotors, u-joints sound a little noisy, plugs, oil change, little valve cover gasket oil leak, serp belt, blower motor resistor, pcv valve. Got a little piece of the driver's door panel that is busted by the handle. Seller mentioned one of the rear doors won't open from the inside, I haven't checked into that one yet, but I'm assuming there's a child lock that he may have overlooked, I've seen that be the case many times.

Going to search around for the answer to the question I'm about to ask, but if there's a willing person to enlighten me, being my first jeep and all... Is there anything else that you would recommend changing with that many miles on a liberty you just purchased? Thanks, to anyone who responds with the answer, and/or to any poster that already posted it when I find it! :)

Welcome!

Sounds like a good list of things to do.

Unless you know for a fact it was done recently, I'd definitely change the fluid in the ******, tcase and both diffs. Make sure to use the ATF+4 for the ****** and tcase.

I did the U-joints, rotors, pads, oil change, spark plugs, and PCV valve today as well as further inspection on the lift. I need to change the rear end's pinion seal and found out today I also need to get front wheel bearings and some quick struts. Still have to do the Valve cover gasket and blower motor resistor. I was set back a little today because my Blazer was choking out and had no power, had to replace an o2 sensor and she runs like a top again! Thanks ltd02 for the suggestion. I'm not sure if and how long ago the fluids were changed, but I'm going to pop the rear diff cover off when I do the pinion seal as well just to make sure nothing is hurt in there.
