Well the cb it self works bc i ran it in my 02 ranger less then 3 months ago. The other day i put it in the jeep then today i went out to a store that sells cb stuf. I bought an ant. mount and i mounted it on my brush guard light thang that protects the jeep headlights but i dont think im gettin out there. So what do yall think it is? Southeast of disorder...
Just out of curiousity what is your definition of 'getting out there?'

It's possible that the antenna isn't grounded properly. You'll need to take an ohmmeter and check continuity between the mount, brushguard and the frame - if continuity is bad you can go down to an auto parts store and buy a ground strap (flat braided strap with metal eyes on each end) and bolt it to the guard and the frame then check continuity again. If everything is good when you first check then I would say check the coax for any problems. I doubt it is the antenna but if everything else checks out see if you can borrow one from a buddy for a test. You might also want to double check the wires from the CB to power and ground just to make sure everything is in good condition and you have a good ground on the frame for the radio (or you can go directly to the negative side of the battery if you haven't already).

In the center pic .. it looks like the base of the ant. is touching the guard ... if so it is shorted out the ant . Just from what i can see.

Like tnrebel said, if it's touching the brush guard that will affect it. Also that brush guard is painted, I'd run a ground from the antenna mount to chassis.

Then hit up your local truck stop and see if they have a cb shop and have them match the antenna to the radio (adjust antenna length to get correct SWR)
