Hey, It's been about 1 and a half years since I was on here last. Life gets
busy and you forget the fun things. This is just me saying hi, and delivering
my 2 year owners report for a used 2007 Libby limited that has had a rough
last 2 years. Overall it's been a good vehicle. Excellent cold weather starter
(in minus 40C), excellent for "going the distance" and never leaving us
stranded.
What was done when we bought it.
Have the mods been OK?
Well yes and no. Aside from the issues of daytime running lights and HID its
been alright. One side has issues igniting the ballast but it works. The rear
springs gave me the height I wanted but now that we do not tow a 4000lb
trailer everywhere they are WAY to heavy. I'm looking into a complete OME
1.5" suspension setup. The springs cause a rough ride especially over
"washboard" roads. The tires were champs! they lasted 18,000km on our
road. We just bought new tires this summer. We went down a size to
increase power a little and to get rid of the rubbing. We went with a Moto
Master All Terrain, not my first choice but meh, I don't care that much, the
price was right!:freak3:
Anything go wrong in the last 2 years?
Our jeep was plagued by a gas cap light, ended up being a defective vehicle
wire harness. some wires when it was installed were partially cut and
corroded. Its been fixed and has been fine.
A cylinder #4 misfire at idle has driven us mad. The dealership spent hours if
not days (of our hard earned money) on it to no avail. They replaced an
injector, coil and spark plug and the issue is still there. I just live with it. So
long as we do not idle it the CEL never comes on. Until it blows up I will be
OK with a slight miss at idle.
Front right upper ball joint failed at 98,000km. No obvious reason, no boot
damage or physical damage. But wasn't a big deal, replaced it with a Napa
lifetime warranty unit. Took all of 20 minutes to install.
Rear shocks were done at 80,000km. no surprise there. Replaced with
Monroe shocks from a 2000 Durango (to accommodate the lift). Need to be
replaced again. I suspect our washboard road is eating them up!
Front shocks are cooked! and the springs are sagged, haven't replaced yes,
waiting on the OME set.
Both rear wheel bearing and seals has to be replaced. The seals were
leaking quite badly. bearings themselves were fine, dealership "insisted" on
the bearings being replaced. I was cool with it, if its open might as well put
new back in.
We have a nasty knock in the rear end. I am suspecting the shocks, but we
are heading in soon to get a recall done on the rear LCA's.
Overall satisfaction?
We are happy with our purchase, It's not an overly fun ride when you are on
the highway, there's no nippy handling or a speedy overtake. But it a good
worker, hook a trailer and do home reno's all weekend and its happy.
There's no comparison to other vehicles when we are experience rough
terrain or obstacles (downed trees on the road and what not). It easily
tackles those challenges. And its "sturdiness" I do not feel as thought it has
weakened at all over the last 2 years. some vehicles will fall apart when
used in rough conditions for extended periods but this jeep takes the lumps
and asks for more!
We are looking forward to more great years with our jeep liberty!
Cheers!

- 3" lift (front spacers, new rear heavy springs, no name or brand so don't
ask lol) - HID headlights and Fog lights
- LT 275/65R17 tires (barely fit, scrubbed when turning on the sway bar)
