Installing head lamp wahers this weekend.

I picked up an extra washer fluid reservoir That will be dedicated to the head lights.
Also picked up a set of headlight washer jets that I'll mount to the bumper.
Either that or I'll mount them facing foreward with a Pizzo electric igniter and run something highly flammable in there so I can shoot flames out the front of the Jeep!

Have you ever needed that? Just curious. Ive never understood why some of those older volvos(and new I guess, idk) had wipers on the head lights. Only time I would possibly need those is in mud and idk why a car would be in mud.

I saw my hellas get covered in snow one time and that was only b/c I wasnt using them so they didnt melt the snow.

One word... salt. Heavily salted road spray in the winter, when the headlights are warm, dries to a nice crust rendering the headlights nearly useless quite quickly.

My drive takes me down a major highway (heavily salted in bad weather), then the second half on mostly unlit and less traveled back roads.

Many times I've pulled off the highway and had to stop and clean my headlights so I can see. Times like that I'd love some headlight squirters!

Ryan, are you also going to install the little wipper things too? Where are you going to mount the sprayers? My first thought was the bumper but that would give you an awful angle to the lights

These washer jets look like miniature gun turrets with twin brass washers jets.
They have a large amount of adjust-ability and will work on the bumper.

Like Dave pointed out Blake, the headlamps crust over with crap.
One trip we took to Alberta in the winter, it was so cold out that the headlamps had
1.5 inches thick ice build up over the whole lens and the light out put
was cut by (I'd guess) 2/3...

Ohh, yeah, I guess the salt could really build up, didnt think of that. They lay the salt out around here(dont need it half the time) but I guess its worse further north. Never had ice build up on my lights though. Suppose if its cold enough the light wont melt the ice off.

Either way, be sure to post up pics. Its a pretty interesting topic and Ive never heard of anyone adding those before.

You may want to mount the nozzles ABOVE the headlamps to spray in them DOWNWARD angle. If you spray UP, then the dirt & grime goes up, then gravity takes it back downward over the lamp, which would probably still smear it. You'll need a longer duration of spray (use more solution) at an upward angle to clean it thoroughly.

You can buy the nozzles that have the LEDs in them too, drill the 1/4" holes in the grille ABOVE the lamp where you want them. They would not have to be centered above the lamps, since the nozzles can be turned to point towards the lamps. Spraying downward means ou use less fluid to push the debris in one Downward motion; rather than spray up, then have it run back down the lens. Also, with the LED ones, you can light them up, AND, are cheaper than OEM sprayers.

This is what I would do, if adding additional sprayers to the headlamps. Use a RAINEX solution so there would be less streaking, since you are not using wipers on them.

Powerslave, the only problem I can see with that is if you are moving at speed, spraying from above will have limited effect due to the 60 mph wind pushing in the opposite direction

Spraying from below/in front, the wind should help (or at least not hinder) get the spray onto the lights.

Also, you won't have a problem with it running back down at speed.

Your theory would work well if you were stopped, but while moving I think the opposite applies.

The headlamps are sunken into the grille some, so placement would be an issue to actually spray ON the lens. The openings of the ports would just about have to be right in the edge of the grille hole for the headlamp. Then aim the nozzle Downwards... That should work, and maybe get some cool lighting effect... I have a set of these, with BLUE LEDs, never used them, sounds like a neat idea... Not hard at all to run hose, "Y" them to each nozzle; and a pump, and a button on the dash.

Don't forget the far northern parts of Canada's seasons, Almost dark, way too cold, don't go outside cold and warm enough to wear just a coat.

Washer jets with Light emitting diodes installed in them are ok for boy racers.
