This weekend I bought an iPod to use in my 2010 Patriot. It came with an iPod cable within the glove box and I thought it would be neat to be able to play my own song mixes.

After loading it with a few songs and tested it's operation in the Patriot I thought I'd try it in my Liberty in a Kenwood KC-MP438U deck. I was surprised I didn't have to buy another cable, it just plugged into the USB port and the Kenwood took control of the iPod.

Does anybody else use their iPod with an aftermarket deck?

I'm spending way too much time on this forum, even ThunderbirdJunkie knows my bio \\:D/

Yes I still have my KJ and I'm happily wheeling with it on the weekends. The Patriot is my Monday to Friday drive but I don't consider it a real Jeep. It's a Caliber with a "Jeep like" front clip.

I just installed a JVC KDR-610 CD receiver with iPod capability in my 06 Liberty. I bought the unit from Crutchfield. In addition to FREE shipping, the kit included the mounting bezel, antenna adapter/extension and the factory interface cable... all included in the unit price.

Before removing the factory stereo, I soldered the unit cable to the factory interface cable, using shrink tubing on all the connections. Once the cable was ready, I removed the factory system and connected the new unit. Swapping the actual units took less than ten minutes. Looks great & sounds even better... even with the stock speakers.

The new unit cost less than it would to renew Sirius for a year!

Yes they do. I am in a city of over a million people and that means a lot of radio stations and you are lucky to find a station that comes in clear with a wireless transmitter for more than a few miles. My wifes fm modulator that is hard wired works perfectly and the one I have in the Jeep is very flat sounding and not loud at all, but neither suffer from any interference from the broadcast stations.

Your best sound with an external source will be a direct connection. My understanding for sound quality is aux in>tape adapter>wired modulator>wireless modulator. I do not remember where the interfaces that plug in where the stock cd changer plugs in, but I remember they were very high if not at the top of the list in terms of good sound quality.
