Is the seatbelt light connected to the passenger seat?

I'm trying to diagnose an issue I'm having.

Is the seatbelt light in the cluster connected to the driver's seat AND the passenger's seat? Or just to the driver's seat?

This is a 2008 Jeep Liberty.

Yup, it's connected to both. However, it shouldn't illuminate if you have no one sitting in the passengers seat.
