Hi everyone, I just stumbled upon your board & I'm looking for some info.
My daughter has 2004 Liberty thats been acting up the Heads up display says that the passenger door is open & the dome lights stay on.I've checked the door & its closed ,tried unhooking the battery hoping it would reset but no luck:confused: .so I had to pull the fuse for the domelights & radio so the battery didn't drain & she could see to drive at night .I'm thinking it might be a switch but not sure so anyone have any advice. Thanks In advance Mike

Sounds to me like the door switch is bad. Not sure how the Jeeps work - GM uses a single wire switch that when grounded turns on the lights. So, I'd say it's either shorted and constantly grounding, or it's corroded/mis-adjusted/broken and not grounding (depending on how Jeep's systems are designed).

I had the same problem on my little Ranger a while back and I just sprayed some WD40 in the lock on the side of the door. Not the lock where key goes in but the actual latch mechanism. try it

You can turn the lights off on the stalk where you control the brightness of the dash lights. That way you do not need to pull the fuse to turn the lights off. I always keep my inside lights off since they do not need to come on if I open the door during the day.

Either way, sounds like a bad switch. Its in the latch on the door.
