I bought Jen her first amatuer (Ham) radio, A little HT. 4 watt/1 watt.
The Baofeng UV-5R with an upgraded antenna, speaker/microphone
with antenna, and computer programming cable.
I spoiled myself and bought a Wouxun KG-UV6X HT, 5 watt/2 watt VHF
and 4 watt/2 watt UHF with an upgraded antenna, speaker/microphone,
and computer programming cable for myself.
Both have excellent reviews. These will be going into our Bug out kits.
At the end of the month we're buying either a Yaesu FT-8900 quad band mobile.
or a Yaesu FTM-350AR mobile Rig for our KJ.
Also looking at the new AnyTone AT-588UV Dual Band Mobile.
$270.00, Killer price if it is as good as expected!
I'll more than likely buy two mobile radios and check them both out.
Whichever one I don't want I'll sell locally for a profit to offset the price of
the our new gear!![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
By December we'll have our amatuer radio licence and we'll be stylin'
and ready for some killer long distance back country 4X4'ing trips!
