KJ trade in...

Hi!

I've been thinking about "upgrading" my 03' 3.7 Limited 4x4 for a '07 3.7 Limited 4x4. My KJ has 46.000Km (28.600mi) in the odometer... the new one has 27.000Km (18.000mi).

I'd paid US$17.213 last year for my KJ... the new one costs US$27.438

With the trade I would win (as far as I know):
- VLP for the ******
- Skid Plate for the ******
- Traction Control
- Electronic Stability Program
- Brake Lock Differential (this one interest me a lot)
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System
- Recirculation of non-conditioned air

I would lose:
- The white instrument cluster
- The interior/exterior color (I've khaki metallic&Taupe... the new one is silver&grey)
- The pre 2005 look
- Is far more difficult found AT tires for 17 inch rims than 16. By the way, this particular unit has GoodYear Eagle RSA (car tires).

What do you think?

I think you would get ripped off. That is just my opinion though. 27 grand for an 07? I wouldn't even look at one with 17" rims.

I don't think you "win" anything. I think you end up throwing away your money, especially since you only bought your KJ last year.

I specifically went for an '05 because I DIDN'T want the Electronic Stability Control system telling my vehicle what to do.

I always liked the pre '05 look, too.

My .02

So you will be paying $10,000 more for the 07. Seems like a lot but as you say those are the prices in Chile.

I have the 17" rims and it is awful hard to get good A/T's or better in 235/65/17. The 16" rims have many options. Just check out the options in tires for 16" rims you now have.

You don't really have a lot of miles on your 03.

You could put a locker (ARB) in the 03 for what ......$1000 - $1,200 (a lot less than the $10,000 more for the 07)......

You could get full Mopar skids for a couple hundred ( U S prices - not sure about Chile) but still.

You could do several other mods, and still be way ahead money wise. Rock rails, etc and a lift if you want.

Personally, for that difference in price, I would keep the 03.

This is just my opinion.

Dave
