Leaking Valve Cover Gasket

My '03 Liberty was leaking oil badly from valve cover gaskets. I assumed both were bad and bought a Felpro gasket set for both. I changed the passenger side as I could see where it was leaking badly. Seems the exhaust header cooks the gasket and welds it to the cover. When I went to change the driver side, I looked carefully and could find no evidence of leaking so I stopped there. If it leaks in the future I have the gasket. I saw in my search that single gaskets are sold, so look carefully before buying both. It may be that only your passenger side is leaking. I believe this is now common that the passenger side is the culprit.

From what I've seen on here and other sites, it does seem like the passenger side one is the one that always leaks. I have absolutely no idea why, they should be mirror images of each other. :shrug:

Since it's right in front of you, maybe the one on the driver's side knows you're keeping a close eye on it and is afraid to act up. :icon_lol:

They're actually a bit more different than that. I think my driver's side is leaking a bit. You can see some oil marks on the valve cover itself. It's just not ******* oil like the passenger side was.
