I have just received my 52" light bar. I know it may sound ridiculous but I really want to mount it up on the roof near the windshield. Make all the jokes you want about the fact that it is wider than the roof. :happy175:

I plan on either getting some brackets that I will have to modify or I will just end up fabbing them. I really don't want to have to drill down into the roof to mount it. I was wondering if there are some points that are better to mount to in this area than others?

Thank You in advanced for all of the help and jokes at my expense!

Yes that is way too wide for the roof for sure
Here is what a 42 inch looks like so another 10 inches is going to make it harder even to mount.
If you want it up right over the windshield it will need to be a custom mount for sure. But like mentioned harder to do because of the width. 42 inch is perfect

It would need to be like a " S " shaped bracket to even work right
Nothing any where that I can think of that even be modified and look good

Wider than the roof, and no drilled holes? Maybe several coat hangers bent to go inside door frame and held tightly in place when the doors are shut?

I should clarify. I am willing to drill holes. I would perfer not to drill holes on the top of the roof straight down. I am trying to figure out if there is a better place along the door frame area that would be better to mount them than another.

I do like this S bracket idea though. Thanks.

The way the door frame is, plus weather stripping and all there really isn't a good place to drill in. The door shuts up nice and close there so just not seeing how it would work

So from the sounds of it, my best bet is to make a bracket that mounts directly into the top of the roof? If this is the best option I will be ok with it.

Of course. I thought we already established he needs a 42 :)

Yes we did but he already has a 52 that he wants to use regardless ( I guess)
I'd sell the 52 and buy the right size but like I always told my employees, customers always right even if they are totally wrong

Ok so after all of the thought and consideration of what everyone has said about what I was trying to do, I think I am going to for go the light bar on the roof until I can get one that will work up there.
