Can you a lift a kj using new OME front coils and rear springs while reusing old front shocks and rear shocks. I know its not the most ideal situation but i need new tires and would like to go bigger. Wont have the money for lift, tires, front shock assemble and alignment. Cutting out new front and rear shock is the only place i could think of saving some money.

Rear shocks are an easy fix later right? front shocks I'm thinking not an easy fix later.

When replacing struts and shocks for a lift are they the same spec's as originals?

Is it hard to assemble your own front shock, I've heard its tough?

Do you need to have the front end realigned right away?

Maybe i wont lift and just get rims and tires. I know a 16x7 rim with 4" BS will work on a lifted Kj but will it work on a non lifted Kj and stock tire size?

If I had a used lift available prior to buying tires, I would have. My labour doesn't cost me anything - I have the time.

Instead I went with the Teraflex BB, and front Spidertrax spacers because it was a cheap way to lift. It let me get the 245/75R16 tires on there and I only had to deal with the pinch welds. I added the control arms later.

Was going to take it to an alignment shop, but I was happy with my own tape-measure, in-the-driveway, DIY alignment. Realistically, it needed to be done once for the lift, and again for the arms.

I'm going to paint the stock alum wheels somewhat close to the Renegade wheels.

You can do a rear shock in about 5mins without even jacking up the Jeep.

EDIT: Still running on the OE shocks & springs. No issues for over 10,000km. I tried the Durango rear shocks, but they were only 1/4" longer and the ends required fatter bolts, so I didn't bother.

Using Dodge Dakota 4 WD shocks in the rear works great and they are MORE than 1/4 inch longer, around 2 plus inches longer
have pictures if needed
Even NAPA states springs and shocks are pretty much done for at 60,000 miles and with the weight our little piglets are more like 40-50,000. Anymore and the ride and control is lacking

I got Monroe-matic 32319 and they were only slightly longer than stock (in the 1/4" to 1/2" range).

When I ordered my rear Bilsteins from shock warehouse on the recipt it said they were for a wrangler, I forget what years but I used the part number from Jeepin By Al as a cross refrence when ordering. I thought it was kinda interesting as most people say its for the Dodge Dakota 4x4. But they were about 2.5" longer than stock.

On the right is the stock length shock
in the middle is the OME 132 Not to be confused with the 132 L
On the left is the Rancho RSX ( that most of us used in the beginning ) from the Dodge Dakota 4 WD which is also the same length as the 132L from OME

In the cheap Monroe Matic line the correct number is 32321 not 32319

That explains it.... I got the 2wd shocks, and they are in fact shorter. :sorry:
