Hi! I'm new to these forums and interested in leasing an '05 Renegade. Well, not really me but my dad, who I'm helping pick out our new car and negotiate a lease, since he doesn't really have the time.

I've always been a fan of the Liberty, specifically the Renegade, and even more so now with the front-end redesign, but I'm worried about some of the things I've been reading at this forum. Specifically, the actual fuel consumption and driver comfort related to the seating and leg room.

Previous vehicle is a '97 Neon which is drastically underused since I just recently got my license and the nature of my dad's job means most of his driving is done just on weekends.

Considering my dad barely drives the car, the majority of its use will be my commute to school about 10km (6miles) back and forth through the city every day for 8 months a year.

Also, I'm 6'1 wearing size 13 shoes, so I'm a bit worried about the seating and room around the pedals since I found it absolute torture taking my road test in a Cavelier, only being able to jab at the gas with the tip of my shoe.

Hopefully I can get some feedback from you guys on what I can except from owning this vehicle because it seems like the best place to ask.

I'll be going for a test drive once the final quotes come in within the next couple days and hopefully doing some camping with it in the Canadian wilderness if everything works out.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! And welcome.

I can tell you this: I'm 6'5" wearing size 13 shoes and I have a 100 mile (round trip) every day and I love my Jeep. I even have the cloth seats so I imagine the leather would be even more comfortable. Don't get me wrong, it's no Lexus, but I've never had a sore back or legs from riding in it. I also have no problems with pedals or my feet getting tangled.

Hope this helps.

Hello, and welcome aboard
6'6" size 14/15 shoes
no real problems.

at first, sometimes, my foot would both step on the gas and brake, but after getting used to it, it never happens.

took her out a couple of times to canada (bout 8-10 hours) can drive her the whole way, no bigge..

ROom wise, im comfy in it, used to drive a 95 neon, and, lets just say this is A LOT more roomier. I still have about 4 clicks on my seat to go back.
ppl can comfortably sit behind me too. all in all, it's a great vehicle, it does have it's negatives, but, the positives outweigh it more.

just dont expect to get GREAT MPG
it's an SUV so dont expect noen like mileage...

I've heard some complaints about the non-powered seats being hard to adjust, so just make sure you get the powered seats. I have the powered and have had no problems (I can raise it up high enough to hit my head on the ceiling and low enough to need to sit up tall to see over the dash)

As for the gas mileage, you'll be in for a shock moving from a neon to the liberty, but even with the extra gas price, you won't want to go back. The view of the road is worlds of difference in itself. I generally get 18-19mpg in the 6speed. On the highway, when I behave and drive 65, I get the 22-23 advertised. Some people get as low as 13 or 14.

as for the pedal room, I'm 6' and wear a 12 (and drive a nice 3-peddler). It actually took some getting used to, because I can't just rest my heel on the ground and press the pedal (the clutch anyway). So there is plenty of room down there to say the least. If you pull the seat too far forward, you'll find yourself hitting the knee bolsters, but other than that, it's roomy.

For the best info, just give one a test drive yourself. Push all the buttons on the seat and make sure you can get it where you want it, and go in wearing the clunkiest boots you can find to make sure they fit in with the pedals.

i'm 6'2 and size 13 shoes and i have no problem at all. MPG isnt the best in the world, but it isnt the worst. Your driving habits will have alot to do with it. Indy 500 driving = low MPG, but take at easy and you'll get pretty decent. I got a 03 sport V6 and average 14-16mpg. 98% city and use the a/c sometimes, but not all the time. If i really put my foot in it the mpg drops to like 12-13.
