Just left the Walmart in my area, they have Mobil 1 full syn in 5 quart jugs for $17.99, not sure if this price is good all over, but thought it was a good deal, normally it was about $24.99, the extreme or whatever they call it was $24.99

That is a good price....it's about a couple of bucks more for the same 5-qt jug in my area. Did you happen to notice if they had the 0W40 in the 5-qt jugs ? My new CRD has that weight as factory fill....I've only been able to find it in 1-qt bottles so far.

Only seen it here in 1 qt bottles too. I read the CRD capacity is over 6qt. Have you needed to use that much?

The owner's manual says 6.4 qts. (I'm going off memory), but I don't believe that included the oil filter capacity. I've not changed mine as of yet....probably will wait 'til at least 5,000 mile range or so minimum. The schedule "A" oil change interval is 12,500 miles; schedule "B" is 6,250 miles.....25,000 for fuel filter replacement.
