Hello guys,
I'm new here in this fourm and i saw that its very interesting fourm.

I have a problem with my jeep liberty sport edition 2006 model and it just done around 120,000 miles.

yesterday i was in a trip to a mountain area, The waether here is around 42 degree :smokin:
My car dosent have any overheating before, just for yesterday trip !!!
I switched off my car for 30mins and then noticed the Rad. cover was half open and the water was throwing out side. After some of peoples help we reached to patrol station and add alot of water and everything seems good. I drove in high way at 75-80 mph, Nothing bad. But when i reached near my home and due to the traffic my car is again overheating. When i start moving and speed up, the temp is going normal !!!.

Today i moved to mechanical shops which is far from my home and everything is ok till now and temp is ok. Whats going on ???!!!

Can some body help on this please ? Because all mechanicals is gussing there. one is asking to replce the Radiator and engine coolant thermostat. other one is asking to change water bumb.

Thanks in advance

If it is heating up in traffic or when you are going slow but cooling to normal at highway speed then I would check the fan. The fan will come on after the temperature goes above normal or when the air conditioner is on. Crank it, then turn the a/c on and you should hear the fan kick on.

Ok, New update.
Till now no overheating and the temp. is normal, I did not do any repair. But i noticed that there is strong vibration in my car as i feel it inside !!

I'm afraid that something going bad to the engine like gasket or cilynders ??

Easy things to check, since I just went throug this in the past three months..

First, check you rad cap, it may be weak allowing no pressure to build thus causing water to boil at lower temps.

Then check thermostat..

Then if all this fails.. you need to get a pressure test done..

I did the rad cap first, still had the overheat your complaining of, then I changed the thermostat, still same over heat sitting still then down at speed. My fan was workig as your is.

My problem was a blown head gasket in its infancy.. Just glad I caught it when I did..

A vibration, as in the engine shuddering.. Yes.. soon as I would start it it would shudder and want to quit but it didn't. I shut it off directly, called a tow and had it repaired right away.. I got a new top end. The machine shop was impressed with the internal condition. It really pays to take good care of the vehicle.

If your thinking head gasket, I'd get a pressure test on the system.
Any steam/white smoke coming for the tail pipe on start up?
