Troubleshooting my ABS gremlins and developed a hypothesis:

Could someone measure from the axel nut to the end of the threaded shaft on the front of their Liberty?

I’m wondering if my helper at the DIY shop overtorqued my axel nuts…and I don’t trust the calibration on the one I have here at the house.

It’s the last thing I need to verify before I buy more sensors.

The rusty gears in my brain remember a similar s.crew up on a different vehicle I owned as a kid.

Would be very minimal. between a little loose and very tight it may only be a thread or so really
so trying to measure with variance in end length you may gat 839 different answers

I had one giving me issues once, ended up being a bad wheel bearing. Not sure if it was debris on sensor or the very slight loosness.

Gotcha. Was hoping it worked similar to the IRS aka swing axel bugs.

Was out cruising around a bit and checked rotor temps. All four pretty warm, so guessing might be time for a master cylinder. Good news is the driver front isn’t dragging anymore after the new calipers.

FWIW, I had intermittent ABS failures a few years ago. ABS fail light would come on sometimes at a particular stretch of county road. I replaced all 4 abs sensors to no avail. It went away when I replaced the front passenger intermediate axle shaft and bearings, cv, and outer unit bearing, and at the same time a new rear drivers axle (reusing the old sensor ring) and outer bearing (and all new parking brakes since that is so much easier with the rear axles out). No more ABS failures after that. I literally drove it from mid-mo to Thompson, MB, Canada the next day (and back) with never once having the ABS fail. No idea which thing fixed it, but both axle shafts had wear.
