Hi, Just wanted to introduce myself to this forum. - I was lurking around and it seemed like a good kj place. A couple of other forums i found were more tailered to - tj's,yj's cj's etc, that were modded and wheeled a lot. (there's nothing wrong with that and it's a lot of fun). I needed the towing capacity so a wrangler was not in the cards at least for now. A couple of questions. (i have logged 51 off road miles and I'm not armored)-

1) Thinking of getting the factory skids when the weather warms up and was wondering how hard or easy of an install it is?.

2) I was looking at pictures and the front skid has a hole in it about where the oil filter is. Is it still easy to get it out without filling the skid with oil?

I'll appreciate your thoughts - Go easy on me - This is my virgin post

hi and welcome...

1) from what i've read on others that have done the install, it will be easy if you had an extra pair of hands and a floor jack. I think it's a bit on the heavy side. (others taht have actually done the install can chime in on this)

2) as for the hole, when u take out the filter, the oil will drip on the skid and out that hole. sine you wouldve have drained it via the plug, there shouldnt be much left to get on the skid itself.....

hope that helps...
