Got the Mopar kit yesterday. I installed it today and it doesn't work. Install was relatively simple but I am not sure why it doesn't work. Servo is mounted, plugged in, vacuum connector on, snapped cable in place. Took airbag off, added buttons, swapped out the harness, the slim black connector has no place to go--I assumed it was related to the radio controls which I do not have. Am I missing something? I'm checking for empty fuse slots next. When you press the button to turn it on, it does not illuminate an indicator on the dash.

I checked the fuse panels and everything that has terminals has a fuse in it. I'm pissed.

Mine came from the factory but one time I got mad for some reason and hit the steering wheel with my hand and now on dash the "cruise" indicator comes up but when u hit "set" it won't hold the speed, I was pissed too but now I just gave up eventually I'm gonna end up taking it to the stealership :(

What was included with the cruise control kit fro Mopar? Any sort of computer module? If not, then something has to tell the vehicle computer to feed fuel and increase spark and such....... just a thought.:)

Well I had read that if the little connector behind the air box was there then you were good to order this Mopar kit. So I ordered it. It came with servo/bracket/cable assembly. I plugged in the harness and attached the cable and vacuum line. Easy stuff. Then I undone the airbag, and swapped my harnesses and added the buttons. That was all the parts I had. The instructions don't say anything about a reflash. I have read several threads on here about cruise and none say this thing requires a dealer flash.

Nothing has to tell the computer to mod the fuel and spark that doesn't already. Whether my foot or the servo is moving that throttle, the computer does nothing different to manage the AFR of the engine.

So what controls the servo?

I'm not denying that the cruise system may have to be "activated" in the PCM. I was just saying that the fuel and spark maps don't have anything to do with making the cruise work.

I've been looking on the net all day for stuff about this and not once did anyone say anything about a reflash. Not saying that it's incorrect, just saying I should have found a resource by now that says "flashing the PCM will be necessary to insure proper speed control function" or something of the like. I just hope they don't wanna ass **** me.

I think I found my problem. They sent the steering wheel harness for a later model. I need an older PN.

Got my new harness installed and system works perfectly. No programming necessary.

Hi there!

Good to hear that you solved it out.

I have had my eyes on such an upgrade for quite some time now..

What engine do you have? What was the part number for the kit, how much did it cost you and where did you buy it from?

Do you have any photos of the installation?
Where exactly do you connect the vacuum tube? Would be really helpful if you could post some photos of the engine bay. All people concentrate on is the steering wheel buttons.

What happened to the "newer year" steering wheel harness? Do you still have it? Would like to buy it... ;) :)

Well I bought it from www.jeepsareus.com through Ebay. You can view the kit here on their website. http://www.jeepsareus.com/Merchant2...re_Code=JAU&Product_Code=sck&Category_Code=JL As far as PN no I don't have one, it's a kit of OEM parts they've put together. The components vary by year anyway I think. The harness I had was for a later model which I had to send back to get the correct one. This was just a mistake on their part and they shipped out the right one very quickly before I sent the other one back. I didn't take any pics but the installation guide is self explanatory. On mine, the studs for the servo are just behind the air box on the fender. I just laid it down, tightened the nuts, plugged in the connector that's just laying there (can't miss it). The vacuum port is just a little *** along the firewall underneath and a little behind the coolant reservoir. It's got a plug on it but pull it off and then just slide the vacuum line of the servo on it. Then just pop off the throttle cable and put the cruise cable on the throttle body and then slide the throttle cable back on. That's it!
