Occasional shaking/misfire on startup

Every once in a while I will go to start the car and it will shake violently, almost as if its only firing half the cylinders or something. When this happens the CEL comes on but I haven't been fast enough to pull the code because I am always worried about damaging something. Also I get an occasional, single *ding* while driving down the freeway with no accompanying light or message. Possibly related?

It's a kk, 08. And yea that's what I thought too but there was no stored code

Surprising it doesn't throw any code. Can you capture a vid how bad the shaking is?
