my jeep is an 05 sport, im not sure if older models dont have this...but on the bar just above the glove box theres the passenger airbag light...now it only comes on when it detects something really light, like a baby, is sitting there righT? but for some reason, when my gf, who is like 115 pounds sits there (shes not anorexic, were just only 17 years old haha) the light comes on, and it really worries me cuz what if i got into an accident and her airbag didnt go off. any ideas?

I think it might come on because it will still deploy, but at a slower speed. If a perosn my size sets there it's ok for me to eat an airbag at 200 mph, but a "skinny" person gets it slower. Just like having to pay extra for a larger shirt or pair of pants, no justice in this world.
Seriously though, I think it's got a measured response. The light may only indicate a full deployment (not lit up), or a no/slowed deployment (light on).

I haven't heard anything about a slow-deployment. I was under the impression that when the light is on, the airbag won't deploy. My gf has set that light on before, too. Usually if I turn the ignition off and back on again when she's sitting straight it turns off (it measures lower if you're leaning on the door or armrest, supporting some weight with legs, etc)

I don't have my owners manual here in front of me but the bags are "smart" and do sense passenger weigth. The deployment light has multiple modes to let you know what it thinks it is sensing. If you don't have a manual let me know and I will go get mine and transcribe the information.

My girl friend weighs around 108(got ya beat) and it comes on when she puts her feet in the floor and takes some of her weight away. It goes on and off depending on how shes sitting. If the light is on, then the airbag will not go off. If a person doesnt weigh enough and the air bag goes off it could do more damage than if it doesnt come out. Should be normal.
