While Jasper is a good name there prices are very high,there core charges are 2-3 times as much as anyone else's,and they nickel and dime you to death over the core return. Basically gotta be a perfect engine for a core or no $$$(yes I've dealt with them before).There warranty ***** and if you read the fine print any Jasper engine going into a Jeep and used offroad your SOL on the warranty.

Although I did run into a few issues with the engine, they warrantied it and paid the shop for their labor under their defect warranty. I did buy the no-fault warranty and it is still in effect. It is 5 years or a million miles. My Jeep is running great and is getting abut 18 to 20 mpg on the hwy, unfortunately I live 60 miles from the nearest highway. Nothing but curvy 25 to 30 mph turns or city driving. I still get about 14 to 16 mpg. I would use them again if I had to do it all over again. Their service is pretty quick, and Adam is pretty good at helping diagnose the issues.

I know of another guy on here that used them and must have dropped a bolt into one of the cylinders. It exploded when he started it. They are replacing it for him too. Not sure how the bolt got in there, but they still warrantied it. I think his build thread says mega v8 swap or something like that if you want to check it out, search for it and ask him about his experience.

Yeah the core fee is high but everything with my engine that they wanted is good. However, they are taking forever to pick up the engine. They sent a guy without a liftgate even though the paperwork says liftgate required...:emotions122:

I have nothing but praise for Powertrain. They went above and beyond what I would've expected. Especially since the problem ended up being the mechanic's fault.

Well I tore into the liberty a little this weekend to find rocker arm on #2 had fallen off. The intake valve is stuck leading me to believe valve seat has
dropped . I don't know any history on vehicle since it was bought at auction, but for 194,000 miles it is very clean under the valve covers. I was expecting it to be badly sluddged up, but turns out I may just get a new pair of reman heads and a Felpro top end gasket set and be back on the road. Anyone have experience with Odessa cylinder heads. States they've fixed the seat problem. $700.00 for a pair sounds reasonable. What do you guys think?

I did a bit of googling and heard some questionable reviews. I've heard decent stuff about CHI.

Just replaced my HGs and only had mine cleaned and resurfaced but I was going to go with CHI if I needed rebuilts.

Thanks, is CHI the same as Odessa? I've heard Odessa is just the ebay company is this true?

Tough to tel these days but Odessa seems to be based in FL. CHI seems to have a long history if you believe it and is based in Texas.

The Advanced Auto heads seemed like a good option also but I was leaning toward CHI.

Looking for reman's that have had the valve seat problem addressed so this same problem doesn't happen again. Does CHI correct the seat problem do you know?

I think I found one source that did specifically mention the problem but most just check them and replace what is necessary. CHI only states they check. This is one of the reasons I went with a clean and resurface of the ones I have. Figured if mine had 160k on them and hadn't dropped one I wouldn't chance it. Mine were in very good shape according to the machine shop. Just warped from an overheat. Overheated three years ago and no seats dropped... yet.

Just got off the phone with the local Sanel's auto parts store and they have a machine shop where they recondition cylinder heads. Spoke with the guy at the shop and this isn't his first rodeo with the 3.7 Chrysler heads. $300-$500 to recondition both heads, check for cracks, replace seals, replace the dropped valve seat with oversized valve seat. Price also includes replacing the valve because its safe to assume its probably bent and also if there are 1 or 2 more valve that need replacing the guy said. I mentioned replacing all valve seats and he said it's not needed because its usually just that one cylinder that drops seats for what ever reason "heat", but they will inspect all seats to make sure they are all tight and free of cracks so it won't happen again. I have heard many great reviews about their work from family and friends, but wasn't sure they would be familiar with these heads dropping seats, which is why i was hesitant but guess I was wrong. Sounds like a great deal. I guess it's usually a #2 seat that drops. Can't beat good reviews from people you know.
