Programming Additional Keys

Hey all-

I saw a thread on this not too long ago, but can't seem to find it either browsing or with the search...bought 2 additional key fobs with the same specs for my 06 KJ and naturally, the procedure in the manual doesn't work. I have the EVIC but the option to program additional keys is not in my menu. Can someone point me to that other thread or provide the instructions that worked for them to program additional keys? I believe I have the "Sentry" system.

Keep in mind you need two working keys to do it yourself, if not just take it to the dealer - I did. I had the new fob and key programmed for around $30, I think...

Has anyone programmed an additional sentry key on an 06 KJ? I first tried the procedure in the owner's manual (which is blatantly wrong - surprise!), and then tried the procedure written in the thread you guys linked to. I can get the vehicle to enter the "program" mode using both of the original keys, but the vehicle basically does nothing when I insert the new key to be programmed. I understand it is suppose to blink and chime and all sorts of stuff, but it just doesn't do anything with either of the new keys.

Before anyone asks, I did buy the keys off of Ebay, but I checked and double-checked and triple-checked the FCC-ID, P/N, etc. on the back of the keys and they are exactly the same as my factory keys. The worst case is that I could take it to my dealer, but they want $50 for the programming and I'd like to avoid that if I can. Any input is helpful!
