I'v heard that once you start using synthetic oil in your Jeep, you can never go back to using regular oil. Anybody know if this is really true, and why is it so?

You can go back... no problem. I personally use synthetic so I don't have to change the oil as often.

In my last car, a Honda, I changed the oil every 12k, which was every 8 months. My job was a good distance. With my Jeeps, I'm changing more often then that. I don't put as many miles on them at all.

As said above, you Can go back to dino oil if needed as well as add it to an engine if needed to top off an engine due to a leak or whatever. FWIW, Amsoil full synthetic oils are compatible with other oils and will work fine if mixed. (though personally I wouldn't mix them for extended periods)

I love the talk of Extended service intervals using Synthetics. =D> How would you like to go out to 25,000 miles + before changing your oil?!
It is totally possible, PM me for details. (Cheers)

You can go back and not hurt anything. But look at it this way, if you're gonna run synthetic, run synthetic. Going back to dino kinda cancels out all the benefits that last run with synthetic did for your engine.

Thanks for all the great info guys...

I was hopeing I didnt mess my Libby up buy putting normal oil in her. I just did my 6th oil change(18,000 miles) and the first 5 I used Mobil 1 synthetic. But a friend of mine had extra quarts of Pensoil 5W 30, so I used it, without really thinking about it 8-[ . then it hit me......damn, I better check with the KJC guys about this.
At 21,000 I'll go back to synthetic.....and stay there

appreciate the help
