Hello all-
My KJ has the RBQ radio from the factory, no Sirius add-on or external CD changer, just the in-dash 6 CD changer. About two months ago I installed the Mopar Ipod integration kit and it really works great, especially with the steering wheel controls. However, since then, I have not been able to engage the CD changer mode on the radio, it simply goes AM -> FM -> SIRIUS/AUX (for Ipod Kit). The problem here is that I had CD's in the CD changer and the radio is unresponsive to the load/eject button. I thought maybe having an auxillary device disabled the CD changer, so I took the dash apart yesterday and unplugged the Ipod adapter from the back of the radio. I powered it back on and it only switches between AM and FM and is still unresponsive to the CD load/eject buttons. However, it does make a disc changing noise as if the motor is working to move the CD changer around, but not at my command by hitting any buttons and it does this at every radio power-on.
So here are my questions: Has anybody else seen this before? Is it possible that the CD changer jammed itself without me knowing and is just struggling now? And why would the radio all of a sudden "forget" that it has a CD changer installed (which is what it acts like - that it has forgotten)? Finally, what are your recommendations on how to proceed? Since the vehicle is still under warranty, I am considering taking it to a dealer and asking for it to be replaced, but the dealers in my area are not all that customer-friendly, and the dealer I bought the truck from last year closed.
Thanks for any and all input!
