Problem is they didn't test enough, read it a few weeks back and its OK for basic street tires but so many others are better that were left out

So Tom are you saying that the conclusions arrived at are not valid for all terrain tires and that the Cooper Discoverer AT3 is only a good basic street tire?

About a year or perhaps eighteen months ago Consumers Report reached the same conclusion on their test of All Terrain tires, stating that the Cooper AT3 was the overall Winner.

Edited for spelling

Consumer Reports is a joke at best its a known fact they rate some products higher depending on $$$ coming in from that manufacturer
Cooper AT3s are a good average tire but not the best but then we are talking tires for in town and mall shopping
While tests like this are OK, they only prove what a brand new tire behaves like for a very short amount of time.
I prefer to get on different forums, talk to people in parking lots etc when I see a tire I maybe interested in.
I want real world, 40-50,000 miles plus reviews instead of a snap shot of a few minutes/ or an hour or so.
Some tires do great when brand new and then by 20,000 miles they are worthless due to the rubber compounds.
So while they did a good job in trying lots to say that wasn't
Since I have had the Duratracs I know at least 40 guys have approached me and asked about the tires and how they ride, do in snow etc, now those guys know how to find out about tires!
Not reading Consumer reports:icon_lol:

Agreed. I haven't been much a fan of Consumer Reports on anything automotive since their BS Audi reports back in the 1980s. You would think the complete abscence of any mechanical link between the brakes and the accellerator would have been a clue that pushing on one does not effect the other.

Problem is not all of us live in the land of sun and sand :p You're in Canada, You know what I am getting at lol, A buddy of mine owns a chain of tire shops here in AB and gets a kick out of how many people come to him crying about how they put their 4WD in the ditch and something must be wrong with their BFG Mud Terrains because they didn't work on ice even though "They have aggressive tread".

There is a reason there are ''winter tires'', doesn't matter how huge your tread lug is, if it isn't sipped to grab snow and ice you're gonna slide. Similar to the discontinued Primewell PA100, cheap ugly A/T that could be classified as an M/T Tire based on how it looked. Great highway beast, but an inch of snow and you were done didn't matter if you had 4WD.
