Removing the radiator cap

As simple as it should be I can't really figure out how to do that. I can rotate the cap a quarter turn counter clockwise and that's about it. It never actually gets fully released. So, what's the trick?

push down then turn

Exactly. There's a "safety" notch at approx 1/4 turn to keep folks from broiling themselves by popping of a cap with 16-18lbs of hot steam and liquid behind it. After the cap clicks into safety stop, it must be pressed down and turned a bit more to come completely off.
