Ok, hopefully someone has a solution.
I replaced my water pump today on my 2008 Jeep Liberty, but had to remove the alternator to have enough room to get the old pump out. I disconnected the negative terminal during this.
After finishing, I try to start the Jeep...but nothing. I have no power anywhere except for the dome light. I also cannot get the car out of park.
I tried to jump off the car, but that didn't help.
I did notice that if I disconnect both terminals for a few minutes then reconnect...the horn beeps. But then I'm back to the same situation.

Any ideas? Could it be something to do with the key fob? That stopped working about 6 months ago, and didn't cause any problems then.

the typical security key behavior would be for the vehicle to start and run for about 10 seconds and then shut off, if its done 3 times itll lock the system down until its reset. but ignoring typical because its not always typical behavior when batteries have been disconnected prior to the behavior

get a fresh battery put in the key fob, then reconnect the battery and lock and unlock the vehicle half a dozen times or so, and then unlock it and attempt to start it

the other chance is, that there's been a short at some point between R&R'ing the alt. - but a pre-existing dead key on a security key vehicle + an unplugged battery may actually be the issue. it's at least the easiest one to attempt to sort out, ~4 bucks

is the security key light active on the dash?
