I have a 2006 Cherokee Liberty KJ 3.7.
It turns out that after doing the top part of the engine, it started making a grinding noise when starting after a few minutes of being off. The noise lasts about 2/3 seconds. Before the maintenance, it did not make this noise.
The KJ now has an oil light on after the temperature reaches 170°F.
The mechanic believes that it could be the oil pump return valve, or the chain tensioners leaking oil.
I'm in Brazil, and there are no mechanics here who specialize in this engine, and the labor cost is very high. Those of you who have more experience, can you tell me if chain tensioners usually have problems with oil pressure leakage? Or if the oil pump is faulty, which could be causing this noise when starting the engine for the first time?
