Would it be beneficial to install run-cool hood louvers in reverse over top of the airbox and then find a way to seal it when the hood is closed?

If you are looking at TRUE cold air intake,I think you are on the right track. Not sure about louvers/scoop that far forward as water from rain/puddles/fording tends be pretty heavy at the nose. Have thought a scoop and intake closer to the cowl would provide clean/cool air.

I was on the run-cool site and there was a guy that did it for his jeep, and it didnt seem like a bad idea...but i was thinking the same thing that you stated. Not sure if maybe i could put a pre-filter or something in

Towards the back of the hood / cowl area maybe but I wouldn't up front
Although I run a 3.5 inch hose from the grill into the airbox and I get very little if any moisture during hard rains

Plus having it right over top of the airbox you'd still have to find a way to direct it to the bottom of the box

I thought the louvers were just to let heat escape the engine bay.

Ha, nevermind the coffee just started working. :freak3:
