Is this normal? I've never removed it before, and opened it for a "why not" look, and found rust on the cap portion on the inside of the radiator overflow tank.
Could this mean rust in my system, or that I need to flush my radiator? Under 22k

I really wouldn't worry about it. Mine's showing a bit of rust as well (35K) and i'm having no problems. A good flush certainly wouldn't hurt and would get any gunk that is in it out. I've been meaning to do one on mine also.

I do not believe you would need a flush with only 35k. I probably wont do that until 60k and I think this coolant will last till 100k anyway.

Thanks for the input. You never can be too careful, especially in summer and with a long road trip coming up.

Bingo! And with this latest heat wave we had last week, I saw alot of cars overheated on the side of the road...older and fairly new.
