Does anyone know the correct procedure and order for removing the steering wheel and cruise control and audio control, i could just get stuck into it but would appreciate any advice to save broken bits or air bag deployment.cheers

1. Disconnect battery
2. Unbolt airbag from steering wheel, then disconnect wires
3. Once airbag is out of the way, you can unbolt the cruise and the steering
wheel controls, or wait until you remove the wheel
4. Take special gear/wheel puller (this procedure does NOT use run of the mill
steering wheel puller) and place tabs in spots on wheel, then turn bolt
until it pops. Do not use a cheap shit puller, because it WILL bend and you
will play hell trying to get the damn thing to work right.

The service manual would be quite handy, there's a whole section on how to do this. I have the 04, though it doesn't have the CRD in it.

Cheers for the reply,do i definatley need a puller or will it release with gentle(attack with soft mallet) persuation. Is the steering shaft tapered thus the need for the puller?. And finally the special puller you mention is this just for jeeps or is it a universal puller and were can i get one?. i have a new steering wheel on order half leather and top half alumimium and would like to be prepared for its arrival.
