I changed the ****** fluid in my 03 sport about 2 weeks ago, and ever since then its been shifting hard every time it goes from OD to 3rd. its most noticeable when slowing down. Now, during deceleration, when I slow down to 30mph, it shifts out of OD and i can feel shift harder than normal as it kicks down in to 3rd. Also, just for the first few days, if I gave it gas to accelerate and it kicked down from OD to 3rd, like I wanted to pass someone or was climbing a hill - it would shift really hard, worse than when it shifts down during deceleration. However, since then, the hard shift during acceleration has smoothed back out and seems normal again.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I bought it 2 years ago, has 70k miles on it, and this was the first time Ive changed the ****** fluid since Ive had it. Ive always done my own maintenance on my cars (grew up with a gearhead dad) and never have had any issues doing this stuff, but you never know I guess. I read a few different how-to's to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary too. I used Valvoline atf+4 fully synthetic (only atf+4 i could find locally), and everything seemed to go smoothly. Should I drop the pan and double check anything?

Cliff's Notes:
-2003 liberty sport w/ 70k miles
-42rle transmission
-Changed ****** fluid 2 weeks ago, ever since the OD to 3rd kickdown during deceleration has been a little harsh.
-The OD to 3rd kickdown during acceleration (ie passing/going up a hill) was really harsh but has since smoothed back out.
-Used Valvoline ATF+4 Fully Synthetic and tf-175 filter

Hi. Is it still happening? You can either wait it out, or take it to a dealer and have them hook the KJ to the DRBlll unit. Have them perform a Quick Learn to reset the clutch volume indexes.
