Installing a home made skid plate, and there is a cross member on the frame that essentially "holds up" the transmission. its sort of a hollow tube type thing that goes from driver to passenger side, and is about 4 inches wide and 3 inches thick. it has 3 bolts into the frame on each side, inbetween those are two impressions with a slight slit in them, wondering if i can drill into that and make them bigger and about 1/2 inch hole to make a hole for my bolts, 2 holes in the 2 slits, any problems with that? otherwise what can i use to hold up the skid. thanks

Shouldnt be a problem at all. Just be sure there isnt anything above the holes when youre drilling.
