I have a tip for you guys out there that want to put a lift kit in the original KJ body style. I have a 2005 Liberty Renigade , I've had it everywhere I had my 1975 CJ5 , and it was locked up all around. Stock the only problem with the KJ is it sits to low to the ground. I put a Rock Krawler 3.5 lift kit in it , and a ARB bull bar bumper and a wench , this added 250 pounds to the front of the KJ. With that added weight the front suspention would hit the bump stops (very hard) at the smallest bump in the road. What I did was to have Pohl Spring Work in Spokane Wa. roll me a new set of front springs with a added 250 pounds to the spring rate. This is done by going from 0.60 to 0.632 rod size for the new springs I can't hardly tell the differance. Back to the original suspention now $350.00 for the springs. With a set of 15x30 and a preformance chip from Jet and I can go where ever I want. I hope this will save some of you some headaces and money. Funnnyfarm

You could have saved yourself over half of that $350 by getting the OME HD front coils(#927's),they are ment for the ARB bumber + winch.

Oh and be weary of the RK crap,it will ruin yoru KJ,they even admitted to sending lifts kits out for KJ's/WK's with grade 2 bolts and imporperly made clevis's,I'd check your bolts:eek:.

so you spent 350 bucks plus the cost of the worthless lift when new OME springs are 70 bucks each? How is that saving money? Sorry not being a jerk, just do not understand the reasoning behind it.

I think all your problems will be solved if you get rid of the "Wench" and replace it with a winch! Should cut the weight in half at least! :D

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

If you went from the stock springs, which have a spring rate of ~300lbs, to springs with a spring rate of 550lbs, and didnt notice a difference then someone pulled your leg with those springs.

If you get OME HD coils you may have to much lift if you keep the current RK lift. The RK lift probably destroyed the stock shocks which is why you bottom out so easily. Could also explain why you didnt see a huge difference with the springs since springs are there to hold weight, not control how fast the suspension moves or rebounds.

The franken lift would be a nice replacement and you would probably keep your current amount of lift.

For an ARB bumper and winch, (Like "Simon Says", do it right the first time!) get the OME 790 CRD - 500 lb. rate coils....
The 927's seem to work well with just a bumper, or just a winch alone with just a little sag.
Despite what ARB says, their OME 927 - 400 lb. rate coil is not enough spring to properly handle the weight of a bumper and winch.
Ideally, a 450 lb. coil rate like the Aussie King coils have, would be about perfect for bumper & winch if you have the $$$$$.

And yes, I've been running 790's on a gasser with ARB and a winch since early Spring. Alex (2006kj) recently ditched his 400 lb. Frankinlift springs in favor of the 790's also.

Gas has been ignited, so flame away!

You're finally getting a winch?.... Just for the record, install it in your ARB and see how long it takes to sag and get spongy on the 927's, then install the 790's. ;)
I'm guessing Hood 297 will also be going this route too in the near future.

Glad my SkyJacker coils(pre-softride coils) only dropped 1/4" when my ARB/winch went on and have not dropped any since(3 years,38,000 miles),you will always get that small drop at 1st due to the weight and no spring will prevent that drop.
