my firend got sponsored by team SCP racing and said i should try it. i asked if they sponsored jeeps and she said yes and they would be willing to sponsor me up to $5000. i would have to put 2 2" by 8" stickers on my car and attend 5 car shows a year or races they sponsor.
since my friend is racing his, he's sponsored for $15,000. my mom thinks its a scam. my firend has the $$ and has already statrted putting stuff on his car.
what do you guys think. if i get the $$ there is a $135 fee. after i sign up sign the paper and get the account.

Have you looked at the 0-60 times on a KJ? Also, we're one of the few vehicles to have ever been rolled during a magazine slalom test. As much as I love my Jeep, I've had times where I felt like a UPS truck could get the upper hand.

I'm not saying it's impossible if they just want their name out there, but it would not be a good move on their part.

that sounds weird, just show up with stock jeep, with a few stickers and pocket 5G's? You sure they won't take your jeep for a "spin". :) Like that test-drive-forever-dude-with-yankees-hat. :D

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
You'll need more then $5000 in mods to make anyone look at any event, not to mention they probally don't offer anything for a KJ in the first place and sponsers love(actually require most of the time)you to use there stuff(which you most likely have to pay for anyway) to show off to others.

It's always more then just slapping on 2 stickers, there going to want results that are in there favor.

Read the fine print very carefully. It took me better part of 90 minutes to read everything twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. $15,000.00 in sponsorship money? You know what they say. If it sounds to good to be true, then it is!
That company is not just going to fork over $5000.00 for a $135.00 fee.
As far as your mother thinking that "this" offer is a scam, then I'd have to say that your mother is a very smart lady.

It looks like a marketing scheme to me. You don't actually get $5000. You can 5000 Co-op Points kind of like air miles that you can use to purchase parts at their approved stores or dealers.

Sounds pretty bogus to me, along the lines of the emails I get all the time...

"Dear Ryan, Would you like to make money by just sitting at your desk?"
...uh huh.
"Its as simple as sending us 'X' amount of dollars for your first survey fee, then just start making money by telling us your opinion."
...delete.

Take the 135$ that you would have to pay as a fee and put it towards something else...like gas.

This is where the saying "too good to be true" kicks in.

From a technical standpoint, these types of sponsorships are legit but at the same time they are shady ripoffs. Essentially their "sponsorship" is like a discount bank. So a $10k-$15k sponsorship means thats how much you can collectively save off retail. Since retail on most aftermarket parts is inflated, you'll end up saving nothing.
