Ya it is subzero here... Jeep looks like a white frost machine in the AM.
Battery is on trickle charger overnight, so all is good there. Load test good.
It starts up easily then it hesitates just for a split second, idle drops like it wants to stall, then quickly it gets going good, with correct rpm.
Maybe next time I will lave the key on for a few seconds to really prime the fuel pump before starting it and see if that helps...No Codes to be found.
94 octane fuel (non ethanol) Chevron...
I wish I had a fuel pressure gauge here..
Any thoughts?

No block heater used HJ. Temps were 21F or -6 Celsius
You may be onto something though.
Maybe a bit of low oil pressure on start up might cause the hesitation?
Flow rate should still be good though with syn Mobil1 5w30.

When I start mine in the cold unplugged it does that hesitation too, Even around -20c, Plugged in it never does it even at -50c, Even though my Jeep always starts for me I always plug it in just because its easier on the engine.

Seriously TC?
You almost got me feeling sorry for you with your "sub-zero" temperatures.....til you mentioned it was Celcius.

Let us know how the Libby starts when it actually gets cold:whip:

No need for a block heater at 21F. But when it really get's cold I always put a trouble light next to the battery. Seems to make all the difference in the world.

Geez Don Thanks! for your support! :icon_lol:
Here in Canucks ville anything below 32 is still freezing!
I am not sure why the Kj is protesting, but I will block heater it tomorrow for 5 hours and see if it likes that treatment any better! Report to follow.

Matthew, according to what I have heard it suppose to be warmer than normal winter on the coast. I'll ask for more Chinook's for u too!
Yet this last week has been earlier than normal snowfall (got 3 inches Fri Night) & for here cold enough to freeze everything in the Jeep! First warmer day in a week & rain now again Thankfully!

Ok back on topic now..I block heated the Jeep for 6 hours, turned the key on quick and what do ya know, it starts fine with no wanting to stall for a second. Hmm..
I guess the Jeep has feelings too & does not like the cold!
It must be a Jeep thing! :icon_lol:
Next time it goes "sub zero" I will try to recreate the scenario and leave the key on 10 seconds before starting & see if the pump priming makes any difference.

Question for you cold guys. Did you relocate the plug spot for the block heater or just pop the hood and use it right off the side of the coolant tank oem style.

I used a husky drill replacement cord with manufactured sealed male end.
This made it easy to feed the bare wire end through the grill, & then wired into a separate female socket.

I moved the cap over from Oem block heater cord to the outside Husky male end.

Simple & convenient, who wants to lift the hood when it is covered in snow anyways?

Ya I was kinda questioning their placement. Usually I plug her in before it snows or gets really cold. Luckily for me it's a extra and not a necessary.

My Mopar one comes out right through the grill. Haven't added anything to it length wise.

Based on what I see in your first pic. If you unbundle the stock wire it looks like it would make it through the grill...

Yes you can fit the Oem cord through the grill.
The reason why I made a stronger extension was to protect the thin OEM plug/wires.
Cause ya never know when u might forget to unplug it, then drive off with it still plugged in!

took the bulk slack out of it and hitched it to part of the metal frame then ran it out the tow hook and Zap strapped it to the side.

Now if you forget to unplug you just need to replace a 4 dollar end.

That's good to hear, I have heard that we are supposed to get the coldest winter in decades, So far its been quite mild so I hope they are wrong, We appreciate it haha, I just think its the Jeep telling you to stay home lol.
