Hi, All . Last year I bought a 2012 liberty, 36 k on her. First oil change i did at 2 k miles to get rid of the oil dealer used and went with Valvolin synpower syntech and a mobil one filter. I have read to change the oil in this engine every 3 k. My mechanic who i think is great , said because i'm using a very good syntech oil to change it every 5k, and use a good filter. so will this be all right to do with the 3.7 engine. Liberty is well taken care off, it was an off lease Jeep. Thank's All.

I run full synthetic oil and change my oil and filter between 5000 to 8000 miles. That being said you should change the filter every 3000 miles.

It really depends on driving IMHO.
If it is a lot of city driving, or shorter trips, you may want to change it sooner.
I run Pennzoil platinum full synthetic & Mobil 1 filter.
I find that by 3500 miles in my driving conditions, the oil on dipstick first thing in the morning, is starting to get dirty, so I change it then.
I keep my Jeep happy with clean oil.
