Tailgate lock.

When I start the engine, the tailgate locks. Is that something that can be reprogrammed somehow?
I use the jeep when I work, and it´s iritating to go back to the driver side door and unlock the tailgate everytime.

Mine only locks when you put it into gear. Not when it is started.

I believe mine locks at 15 mph with the rest of the doors. I think it is something that can be changed with the EVIC, though I am not sure as I have the OTIS in my '02.

Can't be changed with the EVIC. In our KJs, the tailgate locks after you get up to about 2 or so MPH in either drive or reverse. Not immediately after you started it or shifted it into gear. The *rest* of the doors locked at 15MPH.

Different model years may vary in programming of course.

Only time my rear gate ever locks without me locking it is when I use the rear wiper.

I turned that auto locking stuff off before it rolled off the lot in 04.

I didn't know that was even an option. Probably not something that can be changed now though, right?

The auto door locks can be turned on and off with the EVIC. I like the automatic door locks because I always forget to lock the doors.

What I'm not sure about is if that also controls the rear tailgate.

The autolock that locks the doors at 15mph will lock the rear swing gate also.Anytime you use the rear wiper the rear locks also.It can be programed for auto lock or not if you have the overhead computer or not,your owners manual will tell you how to do it.

Being a export Kj you may or may not be able to bedpending on the laws of your country and what was programed into your KJ,check the owners manual.
