Tailgate Locking

I have a 2010 Jeep Liberty Sport. I noticed recently that when I lock my vehicle with the key fob, all my doors lock. When I go to the back of the jeep and attempt to open the tailgate it opens. The alarm comes on when I open it. Why is it not locking when everyother door locks? Is there a switch or something that is turned off to override that lock? Any help would be gratefull....Thanks

Did you ever find anything out about this? My 2009 does the exact same thing.
