Overdrive Off Button. It prohibits the transmission from going into 4TH (and final) gear.

Is this an offroading feature or is it just to make the engine feel like it has abit more poke and rev further when on the road ?

ta:)

Like Marlon stated, overdrive is like a fourth gear. When you turn it off, then there are only 3. Typically OD is on when you start the vehicle and it should be left on. It also allows your engine to maintain lower RPM's, thus conserving your fuel consumption during longer drives.

Ive never really had a problem with mine not downshifting. I end up on the wrong side of the wrong passing people more than I pass in passing zones and if it didnt downshift I would be in trouble.<---thats what the persons face that coming head on to me looks like. Here mine-->:D

Just don't play with it like it's a Nintendo paddle. My sister had a car with an overdrive button like the Liberty and after switching it on and off numberous times not knowing what it was for fried the ******.

If you're driving and you notice the transmission shifting between 3rd and 4th a lot you'll want to lock out the overdrive by pressing the button. It'll keep the transmission from excessively shifting and building up heat. Typically that's what happens whenever you're towing something or driving in areas with a lot hills at highway speeds.
